A few weeks ago, we woke up to the fantastic news that the New York based brand Coach was partnering with NBA superstar LeBron James in support of ‘More Than a Vote’ (MTAV), an organisation led by the basket player to fight against voter suppression and misinformation amongst communities of colour in the US.
“The foundation of democracy is the right to vote,” said Jide Zeitlin, Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of Tapestry, Inc. and Interim CEO of the Coach Brand. “America cannot resolve systemic racism and inequality without ending voter suppression. We are proud to partner with More Than A Vote and to work toward equal access to the ballot box for every single eligible American.”
‘More Than a Vote’, led by basketball player LeBron James and upheld by many other black athletes and entertainers, aims to end systemic racism and racist voter suppression by educating and bringing communities together. According to NBC Sports, some of the names that take part in the organisation are Caron Butler, Arike Ogunbowale, Jozy Altidore, Sloane Stephens and Jason Heyward, among others.
The luxury brand stated that is committed to amplify MTAV’s aim throughout its team, stores and collaborators in order to educate and protect voters, especially those who suffer from suppression, oppression and misinformation. This on-going partnership positions Coach at the forefront of battling racial inequality and injustice by supporting non-profits and guarding voting rights, opportunity equality and education.
