The Fall/Winter 2020 Makeup #trending
Every year, for every season, anticipation and excitement emerge as the makeup and fashion trends change and continue to impress. For the Autumn/Winter season, the cosiest of all seasons, looks from neons to natural, bushy brows to bleached were striking.. from the weeks in Milan, New York, London and Paris.
Of course, the winged liner is still in trend and a signature look for a lot of us. A look that should be tailored to all, dependant on the eye shape, this style of makeup is “timeless” says legendary Makeup Artist Pat McGrath. Paired with a natural look and you can be ready for work in two, with a dusting of eyeshadow and you’re ready with an evening look. As seen at Marc Jacobs on Bella Hadid accompanied by a strongly lined nude lip and flawless base.
For the evening look (if desired) take inspiration from the looks at Bora Aksu, Michael Kors and Missoni.
Attention to the eyes was a prominent theme this year, with accompanying striking looks such as coloured foils on the eyes at Erdem and Simone Rocha, and neon bright shadows at the Chromat and Self-Portrait, but if this is to extravagant for you to try, Autumnal hues of oranges, and bronze tones were washed over the eyes with modern graphic liner as seen at Missoni.
As timeless as winged liner the statement red lip has made another comeback. Pictured at Oscar de la Renta, Jason Wu and MSGM, it’s easy to recreate. With a true red lip pencil, line the perimeter of the lips and top with either a matte or shine finish lipstick. Carolina Herrera was the embodiment of class with this makeup move as seen below. With a slick hair do, this makeup trend would pair perfectly.
A little leap in the makeup world is the emphasis on natural skin this season. Dewy skin is set to stay and looking glowy and fresh is coming back for the season we need it most! This trend has been raved about since it first began, giving us makeup lovers the ability to look barefaced but made up, so undoubtedly for runway this trend is favoured among artists.
At Marine Serre and Brandon Maxwell, although differing in techniques and finishes, the ideas were the same. Marine Serre and Balmain opted to use face glosses, moisturisers and touches of highlighter, resulting in healthy looking, glowy skin. BrandonMaxwell however, created chiselled cheekbones using strobe creams and bronzers, with washes of highlighter for dimension. With differing finishes but both gorgeously flawless, it’s up to you what trend is your taste to try..
Brows, although trending in recent years as fluffy and free, was scrapped this year on selected runways. Bleached brows are a great choice if the accompanying makeup shouts“drama” seen at Sies Marjan and Jil Sander.
However, the bushy brows haven’t left the building (woo hoo) with Makeup Artist Lucia Pieroni representing the fab trend with feathery brows at Rochas and Fendi. Often great for accompanying natural beauty looks and easily achieved with a reliable brow gel and pencil to fill in the sparse areas, here’s hoping this trend sticks around!
