Pop Smoke‘s label is going back to the drawing board after the artwork for his posthumous album, designed by Virgil Abloh, was met with a lot of fan backlash. When the cover image was unveiled last night, many fans took to Twitter to dub the designer’s work “disrespectful.”
In response, Steven Victor — head of Pop’s label, Victor Victor Worldwide — tweeted that Pop would have listened to his fans, so they are “MAKING A CHANGE. B R B. H E A R D Y O U.” He also took to Instagram to explain the label’s response in more detail.
Art Pulled After Fan Backlash
“As pop’s label & as his friends/family, we must bring his vision to life,” he wrote. “he wanted Virgil to lead creative, we fulfilled his wishes, however, unfortunately, he’s not here to give his final approval his fans, are. You know why you love to pop your voices are loud and clear he loved his fans and listened to his fans.”
